FAULTLINES BENEATH THE SILENCE

OTHERWORLDLY NEIGHBORS · Book 4

Humanity finally has something from the other world it can hold in its hands. That may be the problem.

The recovered fragments do not behave like ordinary matter, and every government that learns what they can do wants access before its rivals get there first. Scientists see a hazard they do not yet understand. Security services see strategic value. Politicians see ownership, leverage, and a chance to control whatever comes next.

Then one piece goes missing from the record.

On Mars, the Genshi face a different crisis. Their settlement has survived the cold, the dust, and years of scarcity, but survival itself is becoming harder to guarantee. Old compromises are failing. New calculations are pushing against limits no society wants to test openly.

Earth and Mars are still talking. They are even learning to cooperate.

But beneath the official statements, both civilizations are beginning to make decisions they would rather the other never see.

The first contact crisis was about whether they could understand each other. Faultlines Beneath the Silence begins when understanding is no longer enough to stop fear from becoming policy.
